Avoiding the POD Offsite Ad Trap
Print-on-Demand products have fixed base production costs that cannot be lowered. If Etsy attributes a sale to Offsite Ads (15%), that fee is assessed on the *entire retail order price*. Our calculator accounts for this tier so you never launch a t-shirt or mug at a loss.

Subtract your supplier base manufacturing cost (e.g. Printify t-shirt blank $13.50), actual postage, and Etsy seller fees (6.5% transaction fee on retail price + shipping, payment processing fees, $0.20 listing fee) from total revenue.
POD items typically operate on thin profit margins (20%-30%). If a sale comes through an Etsy Offsite Ad (which incurs a 15% advertising fee on retail price + shipping), it can reduce your profit margin to under 5% or result in a net loss.
If you offer "Free Shipping", build the supplier postage cost directly into your retail item price. Remember that Etsy charges its 6.5% transaction fee on total revenue regardless of whether shipping is separated or included.
